Steeped in history and myth, Glastonbury is known as one of Britain’s most spiritual sites. In fact, it’s here more than any other location that the pagan past that the Christian way and the New Age movement all harmoniously cohabit.

William Blake’s dramatic poem “And did those feet in ancient time” known nowadays as the inspirational hymn “Jerusalem” draws on the myth that Christ himself may have visited Glastonbury with Joseph of Arimathea and ‘walked on England’s mountains green’.

“Till we have built Jerusalem,
In Englands green & pleasant Land”

Not only is Glastonbury considered the cradle of England’s Christianity, but it is also reputed to be the place Joseph of Arimathea came back with a cup containing some of the dying Christ’s blood, known as the Holy Grail, and buried it in his new founded Abbey.
