Candle Care

First burn:
The first time you burn your candle is so important! Make sure you have a few hours to relax with your candle the first time you burn it, because it’s essential that it burns long enough for the melted wax pool to reach the edges of the container.
This will prevent the candle from tunnelling, and ensure you get the most out of your Lost World Candle. Each 300g jar candle is 33+ hours burn time.
It should take between 2-4 hours for the melt pool to reach the edges, depending on the climate. In cooler weather, it will take your candle longer to melt to the edges.

Normal burning:
Never allow your candle to burn for more than 4 hours at a time. The recommended time for each use is 2 hours.
Before relighting your candle, trim or break off any mushrooming of the wick to allow a clean burn and prevent smoke.
It is always best to use a snuffer to extinguish your candle to prevent blowing wax outside of the candle container.
Once the candle is extinguished, leave the candle where it is until it has cooled and hardened.

Bubbles and lumps:
Does your candle exhibit a lumpy or bubbly surface after it cools down and hardens? Don’t worry, there’s nothing wrong with your candle! This is a feature of natural soy wax. As the wax cools, different parts cool at different rates and create this uneven surface. Your candle will still burn perfectly.

Storage:
When your candle is not in use, keep the lid on at all times to preserve the scent throw.
Keep your candle away from direct sunlight.
Please note candles may exhibit ‘sweating’ in the hotter months. Do not wipe this away, as it may effect the scent throw. This sweating will either evaporate or seep back into the wax the next time you burn.
Natural soy wax is a very soft wax, and is effected by high temperatures. This means Aussies, keep your candles in a cool place when not in use during these ferocious summers!

Safety Directions

Never burn a candle near flammable fabrics or materials. Keep away from draft-prone areas or vents. Keep your unit up high and away from children or pets, and always ensure there is a metre clearance above a lit candle to prevent scorching (example, do not light a candle in a middle shelf of a bookcase).
Candles are never appropriate for children to use, and do not leave a lit candle unsupervised around children. Likewise, do not leave a candle lit in a room or away from sight. Always use caution when handling a lit candle and take care to not spill hot wax or burn yourself on the open flame.
Only light a candle on a level, fire-resistant surface and ensure the candle is free from foreign materials such as wick trimmings or matches.

Do not burn candles for longer than 4 hour intervals.

Reusing Candle Jars

If you are going to keep your jars, wash gently with hot water water. You can fill the jar with freshly boiled water to soften the wax, wait 10 minutes and come back to clean it out. Do not scrub, but gently scrape out residual wax with a teaspoon. Soak the container to remove the labels.

Empty candle jars have many uses! Here are some ideas:

• Pen or makeup brush holders
• Small plant pots – these are great for succulents!
• Storage jar for hairpins, paper clips, pushpins, crystals, bath salts, tea and candy
• Tealight holders
• Small flower vases
